Website - EOserv Tutorials.
I have plans on making a website, based on EOSERV (duh :P). I plan to have tutorials from...
Setting up EOSERV to Coding/Adding Systems from the quest system to a reborn system or something.
Wiki does have tutorials but I want to have different "kinds" people that understand things easier, to very noob friendly.
Website
HTML/XML/HTML5
CSS5
PHP
I wont be releasing the link unless i'm allowed it would be advertising (mysite) but I do NOT own a private server.
I simply plan to do this for fun, and to help folks out. If you would like your tutorial submitted, that you made/or make just post it/or its link. I'll be looking at them.

Sounds cool, hopefully it'll work out well. And make sure to make a "Guide Search" feature possibly to search for all existing guides.

Re: Website - EOserv Tutorials.
I plan on adding some features to it. I been thinking how I wanted to organize the guides via searching the site for guides.
It's going to have the site menus (duh) I know what you mean...
So far I plan to have
- Login & Register (PHP)
- Email me (ex: what you would like me to add to the "tutorial list")
Stuff I may add
- Inbox
- forums (doubt it ...)
- Comment Page (rather than forums)
- Pastebin (pastebin.com so idk)
I'm also thinking of extending it and doing little PHP tutorials, like adding Register & login onto your website (for a EO Server) ex: fe has it.

Re: Website - EOserv Tutorials.
you should also include multiple database types like MySql and Sqlite for the tutorials. It shouldnt be too hard just a function like this for each needed mysql event like mysql_connect, mysql_query, mysql_numrows and etc. Some people, like me, dont like to use mysql. XD
function DataQuery($query)
{
if ($DatabaseType = "sqlite")
{
//Do Sqlite Query Here
}
else
{
//Do Mysql Query Here
}
}

Re: Website - EOserv Tutorials.
xD. On the note of "Searching Tutorials".
This gives me a completely different idea about the site.
Would you guys rather a site, like EOSERV the navagation on top.
Example...
home -- forum -- contact
sub menu sub menu submenu
Or would you guys like
home - meh - meh (sorta same)
(EOserv Tutorial Search)
Search by; Catagory -\
etc ----------- ] - form drop down menu.
etc------------/
Peace of code looks like this.
<select name="search_by_catagory">
<option value="code">Programming</option>
<option value="topic_name">Topic Name</option>
<option value="setup">Setup</option>
my show is about to come on... That way above was my original way (it's not using PHP because I didn't know if I wanted to even use Databases due to this is a tutorial website not *sign up on the eoserv tut site* :P
Sure you get what I mean if not sorry.

Re: Website - EOserv Tutorials.
Sounds a bit silly if you ask me, as there's already 100's and I mean 100's of tutorials on all the things you have listed above, the main one being EOSERV considering you are posting on the EOSERV forum, that is what the WIKI was created for. Tuts on how to setup and use EOSERV. Forums are
un-necessary as this one works just fine, and I doubt many people will diversify themselves to your website as it will offer all the same things as this one - the comunity and good support from people that actually created and use the software on a regular basis. ---

I love oppions thanks.
and you keep doubting your self lol. Wiki is 100% different than what I plan to do, If wiki worked people wouldn't still be asking the same questions, what I have planned, No questions will even need to be asked.
Soon I'll be devoting a "on-call" contact number. Where if you have questions about my tutorials you can contact me via phone.

Re: Website - EOserv Tutorials.
again that'll be a bit silly, so you're basically voting yourself be turned into a moving help desk for the tards that swarm this forum being all like "where do I place pub files D:?! HELP MEH!!" then you're just
all like:

And not to mention there are multiple countries on this forum so the cost of the call will be phenomenal. I still stand by what I say though, not many people are actually going to make use of your site... If Sausage throws the wiki in the nub's faces like puts some stickies on the EOSERV Section of FAQ's from
the wiki then there will be no need for your 'help desk' scenario.

Re: Website - EOserv Tutorials.
I wouldn't be getting phone calls, Simply Text messages. Which is free for me. Doesn't matter what sausage does.
You can't say none will goto my site, because It's not up yet.
Stop going off topic now.

I'm not going off topic, just providing you with some feedback on your ideas for your site. Text messages will cost you across border. I promise you. Might
be free within your country, but as soon as the number after the + changes (for the uk it's +44 and for america it's like +1 I believe?) <- Text messages that have varying numbers won't be free xD ---

Re: Website - EOserv Tutorials.
well whatever, mobile help is useless when you have these forums, sure feel free to make the site, I'm always up for seeing some pretty good work being done in html and CSS, and I hope people use it considering how much work you say you're going to be putting into it so good luck buddy. I just
wanted to say I don't think it's worth all the effort when all the tools that everyone is going to need are right here on the forum. ---

Thanks. I don't plan to only attract EOSERV members, but other people aswell.
If none goes to it ohwell. I don't mind working on something and it not turning out as I thought. Doesn't happen often.

Re: Website - EOserv Tutorials.
I don't know if someone has said this, but you should keep it basic. Because afterall, I'm sure people would use EOSERV for forums and the features you've mentioned. So keep it simple with just some tutorials.
Ideas:
Register
Login
Rates (users rating guides with five stars)
Once it's posted it will be shown up on the home page with a "Recent Actions" feature, also (maybe) with different categories.
Search of course so people can search what they're looking for
Inbox System , would be great to also prevent spam in the replies to Guide Pages.
Rules Page
Possibly a Profile Page with a few features, maybe save that for later once you have most of the basics.
And a few other things you can think of, I might make an example project like this for non-eo purposes because it sounds fun haha,
