On the above mentioned date, it will have been approximately 10 years since the moment the earth stood still. On September 11, 2001 four passenger jets were hijacked, two of which crashed into the World Trade Center in NYC and another into the Pentagon. Almost
3000 victims lost their lives that day, including 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 medics all in the line of duty.
Despite being in an otherwise distant land, it was truly an event that rocked the foundations of our society. I was only 10 years old, and even I didn't sleep a wink that night. It was so surreal, so unbelievable to have that video feed coming in live from the United
States, although deep down you knew it was real, it wasn't something you wanted to believe and as such it took a while for reality to sink in. It wasn't until the next day at school when all our lessons were cancelled for the morning entirely to watch the updates that we began to hear the full
story. It wasn't until a year later that the news slowed, and I don't believe the after-effects on society will ever end.
I believe all of decent humanity shared the pain felt in NYC and across the USA that day, and continued to do so in the weeks, months and years to come.
In a community like EOSERV with such a far reach across the planet, with members from every region in the world, I can imagine that for some of our members this will be a difficult time. Some of us may have been hit close to home, both directly and indirectly as a
result.
From myself and the EOSERV community, we pay our respects.
The Community Disclaimer here is that EOSERV has no and never will have a political or religious stance. This thread purposely makes no reference to the US Government and other groups for this reason. It's provided as a sign of good will to the victims,
both direct and indirect, some of which may now be part of our community. I ask any issues that arise in this thread be turned over to moderation and any concerns members may have be turned over to another thread or private message altogether.

I unlike many others in America have no real "pain" or "fear" from this, but that's just me I don't even remember where I was when I found out about it..
I do feel sad for all those who died and those who lost a friend or a loved one that day! Bless all of you, and the people who died trying to rescue the poor souls who where caught in the towers you all will be remembered!

As many say it was a day that changed history for better and for worse. Honestly in my opinion, despite the number of people who died, it was an ordinary day in life. Just waking up and walking to your kitchen you take a risk that something may or may not happen precisely at that moment that could
leave you dead. There are numerous ways you can die, and some of them you don't even think about. The fact that four planes were hijacked was not a coincidence but all of those people took the risk of getting on those planes, this goes for those who died trying to stop the panic as well.
So in regards, people died for their country, but because of the event, we all learned and adapted.

Not trying to "troll" or go "offtopic" but Misca ... you always bring me down bro lol.. I never thought of it that way and I rather not, for the fact we
shouldnever have to "risk" ending up dead doing our daily activities. :(Back on-topic, did you hear about how the Police weren't invited to the Remembrance Ceremony of 9/11? I find that so wrong they where risking their lives too, sure they didn't rush in like the firemen but ffs they did what they where supposed to do.

I was in a bathroom break at school around the time the news hit. We returned to class with a teacher who had a grim look on her face and some news to share with us. Just thought I'd share. ---

Oh well reading this new article I found I guess some of the fireman weren't invited either...Because there isn't enough room.

I've gotta say, I don't find that very funny Eternity.
I was 6 or 7 at the time, and I had no idea what had happened until I got home and my parents were upset. The explanation I got was pretty vague, it wasn't until later that I really grasped what had happened. Definitely a weird time to be a kid at that age, you're a little too old to be
unaware and a little too young to really get it.

Then simply don't read/post on topics such as this.
I for one was in a very similar situation as Cirras, I as well was either 6 or 7 and in elementary at the time. The entire situation never really struck me until a few years later when I understood the actual effect it had on society, the world, and even my own family. I don't know anyone
personally who had family there at the Trade Center, but god bless the victims.
