Future plans
Hello Hello!
I am interested to know if anyone knows about future plans, as if anyone knows yet what kinda of job you would like to have in the future. I am also here to share good news, i will be finishing university of business in a year. Therefor
ihave decided that i will be starting my own business after finishing school. This is something i have always wanted to do, and i feel excited and inspired about
this. I have decided most of things at the moment. But i don't want to rush with anything yet, i want to do everything slowly and wisely. The location ( and stocking ) is something i find extremely hard to decide since there is so many good places, although It'd be wise if i start here in Taiwan. But then again, China or Japan.... actually scratch China. Japan seems as a good idea since after one year of "resting" of school, i want to finish MBA program in Japan in Nagoya University or Kyoto's(
it might be easier in Kyoto since most of my relatives lives there ). As you can see there lot of things needs to be done! Enough about me, what about you, do you have any plans for the future?

I'm off to University in a week to double major in computer science and mathematics. I'm also working on startup that will hopefully launch in a few weeks.

Re: Future plans
Life is funny. I see ya'll with such big dreams but hardly no one has a back-up plan. When I was 15 I was working for the State doing data keying in tax returns, and was going to start making around $20,000 when
I got out of college. (Which is enough to live on where i live.) But stuff happened and I wasn't able to keep working.
Later on I was able to get my strength back up and started working at a bank. Was a great job and they were going to help pay my college. But I wasn't able to handle work and school so I had to pick which one I
wanted more. I picked the job but in the end school won over.
Then the next year I was able to start working once again, but this time I found myself at another State job. Was great, and one of my best jobs. Loved working there but my body just couldn't handle it. I ended up quitting because I knew I couldn't keep up with the work and they needed someone that
could.
So after a while I found a simpler job just so I can pay my bills. I was cleaning a state building this time. Which was great but after two months my body just couldn't take it. I had to quit and haven't been able to work since.
Funny how I got the smarts to become a lawyer (made straight A's while missing over 75% of my school days), the drive to work hard, but my body just cannot handle the stress of it all. Though the part i hate the most is that my English and grammar really suffered because of the amount of school days I
missed.
So I got it figured out where I can build me a small house in the boonies and just farm what I need. Should be able to get enough money in 5/6
years to build. Then I can just go back to a simpler life and do some odd and end jobs to pay my property tax. I really don't need much to live on, life has taught
me that.

Re: Future plans
About 11 months ago I started my freshman year of college in Seattle. I entered thinking I was dating the girl I was going to marry, that I would major in CS and minor in Music (Piano Performance). Oh, how things change.
Now I'm about to start my sophomore year of college in Seattle. I'm entering thinking how stupid I was for trying a long distance relationship with that girl. Now I still want to major in CS, but I've decided against a music minor. I may double major with CS and EE but I'm not sure about that
yet. I have my (first) job as a helpdesk technician at the university which involves deploying newly built computers, and providing tech support to the campus. Suffice to say that I never want to see another printer in my life.
Next year is next year. Who knows what I'll be doing...kinda exciting at this point since so much is unknown :D
I shall end this post with a quote from the brilliant mind of our generations greatest philosopher. Just to express how I feel about life.

Re: Future plans
I want to do something with programming when i get older, possibly starting my own computer. I have a year or 2's worth of programming and computer exeperience, which is pretty good for being 14. But, my main path is to stick with programming. If not, i have a few abilities i can fall back on, and
many types of programming that i can do (E.G. Software programming, Web Developer, etc.). Verysoon going onto my first year in highschool.

I want to be a veterinarian, although I'm only 14 I've been helping around in some
shelters earning some volunteer time. After I turn 18, and I'm done with high school, I plan on going to community college and getting my basics done, but hopefully I'll have most of them out of the way do to collegiate high school, if you don't know what that is it's where you
leave high school during the day and do college courses. When I'm done with my basics I hope to go to Texas A&M College and get my masters in being a veterinarian, in the mean time I hope to get paid internship with a veterinarian getting more experience and cash to help with rent, food,
etc... ---

Re: Future plans
I hope to one day leave the computer industry and pursue my interest in radio/broadcasting. I never went to college, decided against it since I saw no benefit in it based on the career paths I want to pursue (that and although it's known for turning out bright, inspired pupils, a number
of college students and graduates that I know personally are still complete morons).
I currently work as a computer technician, certified globally. This is my backup plan.
I will be attending a course with a number of high profile radio personalities and learning directly from the best in the hopes of achieving my goals to be an on-air personality. I have five years experience on radio already, it's the switch from community to commercial I need to make. As it
stands, it looks promising. However I would also gladly accept pre and post production, the art of making sound and music, as it's another area i've been quite fond of.
After that, it's uncertain. Life is all with the next dream, but it seems fitting to focus on this one before launching into another.
Perhaps I could study music again. Been meaning to for quite some time. The electric guitar and amplifiers are getting awfully lonely.

Things may be different at your university, but a double major in CS and EE would be almost impossible in 4 years here.
The way it works at my school (and most, from what I gather) is that you have a specific number of credits for a specific type of degree (BA, BS, etc..) and then for your major you need a specific amount of credits in
that direction. For example, at my school you need about 130 for a BS, andfor the CS major you need about 80 degree specific credits. So that would mean you could do 80 CS credits and 50 credits unrelated to the major (gen ed stuff, etc..). Well, at my school a CS major is about 80 credits, and the
EE major in 110, they don't overlap too much. Meaning in order to double major in those two things, adding in general ed credits, you'd need to do about 210+ credits. In 4 years that simply isn't possible, even if you did summer/winter/short spring semesters (which would mean you'd basically be in
school all year sans a few scattered weeks), you probably wouldn't be able to make that.
Typically engineering majors (which CS is also considered) have huge course loads, and doing a double major with two of them isn't really feasible unless you want to spent like 8 years in undergrad. Honestly, I don't
even think they would let you do that, but I'm not certain.
For me, my second major is math, which only needs about 30 credits (the lowest of any degree I've seen). I guess the material is considered harder or something, and a lot of the courses overlap (e.g. many CS courses
are electives for the math major), so I'll be able to do that double major without any extra credits, granted most of my credits will be core courses and not too many 'easy' courses, but I'm okay with that. Actually, going into this freshman year I'm already taking what a typical math major would
take during his sophomore year (MAT 307), not only that but MAT 307/308 is atwo semester sequence that covers the material in 3 normal classes (Calc III, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations), so by the end of this year I'll be 3 semesters ahead.

Haha who said anything about four years? xD I just think it might be fun so I'm going to try it out and see how I like it. You're definitely right about the course load for each one, but a bunch of the classes for those majors overlap. I even brought up the possibility of a double major to my
faculty adviser (help me plan my courses out) and they didn't completely shoot me down. At least not yet... ---
