Re: Custom PC
I have built several PC's and I have had the best results with Intel motherboards. Some may disagree with technical specs, but Intel really does put out a very reliable product. 3 machines I have built are now around 7/8 years old and never a single problem and work well to this day.

Yup, I have to agree, When I was building computers Intel was the way to go. But all in all what you have listed is what you want so. ---

Re: Custom PC
I prefer AMD's CPUs, Ati's GPUs, MSI MoBos and kingston RAM chips, Seagate's & Buffalo's HDDs.

Re: Custom PC
Thanks everyone, I guess this combination will work? I don't see a real direct yes or no in the build lol.
Cheers

Re: Custom PC
From what I can tell it will work. I think Intel products are slightly better, but they are way more expensive. The only reason I put an AMD chip in my build is because I was on a budget. Saved me at least $130 USD. Same with using an ATI chip instead of nvidia. Saving money like a boss. ---

Re: Custom PC
It'll bottleneck. Also you are probably going to run into problems with a 550 psu, lmao.

I would get a higher power supply, that seems pretty low to me.
Edit: I have no idea about the bottleneck, I have little to no knowledge about computer parts. I can build a computer with easy, but I don't keep up with what is best to put into a computer. Just know that you will need a bigger power supply because I've been searching for a computer as well. Except I'll take the easy
wayout and just pay the extra cash for someone to build it for me, or go with an over priced Alienware computer. XD

Re: Custom PC
AMD Phenom's are slow, AM3 Motherboards have much slower NorthBridge/SouthBridge, 1333Mhz ram @ 9-9-9-24 Clock speed? lmao high latency much?, GTX 550 Ti? wtf are you doing that you need one of them? your gonna be running hot as fuck bro. 100c if your using 2 mons. 550w psu? the gfx card
alone uses 116 W according to nvidia's site. Sata III w/ only 16mb cache? go for the Western Digital @ 6gb/s w/ 64 mb cache. sorry hurrying this gottta leave ill explain more later if you need.

Well it all depends on what you plan to spend. I personally run:
CPU: Intel Core i7 - 950 (OC'ed to 4Ghz)
Mobo: Asus Sabertooth x58
HDD: Western Digital Black 640GB SataIII
PSU: Thermaltake 1000w
GPU: x2 GTX 470 in SLI
RAM: 6GB Patriot 1600Mhz Triple Channel Low Latency RAM (OC'ed to 1751Mhz, raises the latency but i pull better results benchmarking)
Case: Azza Hurrican
This cost me about 1500 after rebates and cuz i found good deals (open box from microcenter, big sales, ect) and this thing litterally smokes s Mac Pro 2x Xeon which is dual quad cores (Note: I am running Mac OS X (hackintosh ;])) in benchmarking. So if you arent much into games get a lower GPU
(like a GTS 450, note its fermi like the gtx 470 so it'll still run hot, but they usually are self sufficient), get a sandybridge i5 processor and an intel mobo to fit, get 8gb ddr3 low latency ram, 650-750 psu (dont go too cheap, they can short and ruin your mobo and processor, or everything
even), and get a nice thermaltake case ;). For HDD get a western digital, they have lifetime warranties and are usually faster for cheaper when it comes to competing against seagate.
