I agree, there should be like a "Facebook chat" feature. Also I agree with the competition idea. It would bring so challenges to the website and it would make pixelers/coders/mapper/etc. look at their work and learn from their mistakes.
Off topic: Sausage, I like the improvements you made to the website!
You better be able to freaking hide that thing. Those things are ugly and usually just take up loading time.
But yeah, the visual design on the forums are looking great.
