Port Forwarding confusion.
Author Message

I have a verizon network or whatever and I know the password. I just dont know how to port forward to get my server working. I can't find a tutorial with verizon to guide me through it, other tutorials using actiontec and so on are different.

If you can teamviewer with me and portforward for me that would be AWESOME.

OR if you can provide a video tutorial on port forwarding with verizon please post it below.I have been trying to figure out how to port forward awhile and still no luck

portforward.com?

Since that would naturally be the first place you go I'll give you general advice. There should be a link somewhere that says port forwarding...if you don't see it, there should be some sort of menu in your router's set up that shows a bunch of links like 'basic' or 'advanced' or 'tools' or whatever. On mine it is under advanced. It shouldn't be too hard to find.

You configure an exception for your server. You need to know its internal IP address, which would be 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x. Do an ipconfig from your computer's command prompt and it should tell you. Along with your server's IP address, you enter the port that you want to open. If its a range, enter the same port for the low/high.

And if any of that confuses you, I can NOT stress enough how useful google is. This is one of the easiest procedures in networking to actually configure.

When I got to the ip config it showed 3 different ip's:
IPv4 Address,Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway which one is my internal ip?
also when I think I have portforwarded correcctly i get a an error when trying to load seose that says ERROR: Bind. How do I fix this

Your address is the ipv4 address. In a nutshell, the subnet mask tells your computer what other computers it can contact in your local network (internal IPs). The default gateway is where traffic is forwarded to leave your network. Its the address of your router.

As for binding errors, make sure it is bound to 0.0.0.0. I think, I'm not too sure on those.
