I don't know what it is, but it's shameful. I can't see why anyone in their right mind would ever consider signing up to this place based on first impressions, which is a shame, because it's people in their right mind that we need to continue any development of the project. Anyone that may have once had a brain has essentially been forced back into obscurity and the staff that put their hand up to keep the place alive aren't considered equal. Hell, i'm still convinced the only reason the majority of people liked Sordie was because she was attractive, intelligence would have gone unnoticed for many, and the only reason Sausage is so popular is because everyone's a kiss-ass hoping to score brownie points with the boss man.

God damnit EOSERV, just... god damnit. I don't know what I ever saw in this place.

Also, the mod staff should have plenty of fun with this post. See you lot back in the IRC channel.

I completely agree with this and it was nice of you to point this out I didn't even notice really until now.

How can be diferend from Endless Online forum when Eoserv hug all these players when endless died? I know they are so many people in here with so many ideas and trying to do the best for that open project but there are a lot people too, that only want to be on a forum. Some of them dont care about project, only want to download new servers and stuff and got their dream come true (be an admin on EO game). I dont blaim them, i just say there are people like these. Offcourse there are people who are so dump that ask again  and again same questions. But we must not be so offensive with new players. I think we were like them when we first joined here.

It making me mad read people blaim others for stealing codes pixels etc when private server is a "stealing" from main Endless. At least when we talk about art work. Come on guys. Go a step forward. Start to respect other people. we are all human. Nothing to fight which server is better. We all be here becase we love or loved on past Endless Online and want to keep dream alive. None here should believe that can make a new game totally diferend from EO. At least some of you here can. There are all private server after all.

Btw dont hurt Francuz... Dam that guy is my favourite. Every topic that post his ideas make me laught so much with no offense. Maybe he is not good on english (i am not good either) maybe he is not good with pc and he dont understand some stuff how to set it but he try his best. Maybe he do it with wrong way but anyway. To all these people who blaim people that cant talk good english i have to say that: Its a honor for you that we are trying to comunicate with you into YOUR language. I dont want to blaim none here, just to share my thoughts.

No one is blaming anyone, He is pointing out that there are more and more idiots coming to these boards and don't think that making new accounts just to post the same question is just silly. No one needs to do this. Ask the question and someone will answer as soon as they can. Not everyone that really knows what the best solution is available to answer these questions but I do know that Port forwarding is starting to annoy me for one. If they do not know how to use their router this is not the place the ask. All the information we can tell them is to open their ports to 8078 or whatever port they are wishing to use with the server emulator.

Yes, Some people can use TeamViewer but there are a few people that cannot be trusted with this. For example... My Sister allowed someone to set up her server via such an application and I had to travel 23 miles just to fix her computer and I then set it up myself whilst I was there. She's now given up on her server but she's not really computer literate so I thought she would.

The moral of every thing being posted on these forums lately are stupid games and stupid questions. Why not have more patches made.

It's become a problem over time. As I often say, we have some great members. Experienced developers. Graphics artists. Sound engineers. Even the new server operators that want to try their hand at making their own server, you have to respect them all for giving it a shot. Even the regulars that are just here for support. It's those people that suffer when this forum is degraded by spammers, trolls and the straight up idiots (and idiot doesn't refer to intellect, it refers to behaviour, although often the two go hand in hand). Even the game threads, as well intentioned as they may be, achieve nothing, even in an off-topic forum like the lounge they push the envelope.

Not to mention the server wars. You can blame those for single handedly destroying the appeal in making servers for the majority of the up and coming new ones.

EOSERV needs a tune up, and it needs it quick. I'm just not sure if anyone, and certainly not one individual, is capable of making it happen considering the effort that would be involved to clean it up.

The forum has a purpose but it isn't being used correctly. The purpose is to get help with EOServ or Seose but lately it is Port forward this and Game time that. Yes there is a section for off topic ordeals but still. It was created for people to talk with people about random stuff not to get the highest posts or to flood the recent activity with useless games.

As for Sausage, He's been pretty busy lately and therefore leaves us moderators to keep the peace with the community. We cannot just delete posts for no good reason but we can at least ban people that aretaking the biscuit and tell if someone created a new account just to ask the exact same questions.

Why does eoserv.net need an explanation of what it is? It clearly says in the header of the site "Endless Online Server Emulator" You don't need to know anything but that.

Let me go on the record here as saying that Elevations has every right to the contributions of this thread. It's an open forum, let the man speak, constructive discussion is healthy, all that.

EOSERV's community is one i've been familiar with from day one, I was there prior to its launch, I followed the work Sausage put into it with great interest and I saw its migration from EOHax to here. It was intended to carry on from where Endless Online left off, in doing so i'd imagine it accelerated its demise, but it had the best of intentions.

Then it stalled.

I don't blame Sausage for that. He did his part, he built the working server emulator code base. He open sourced it, turned it over to the community to construct it. Nothing happened from then on. I don't know why, perhaps the community we have is just too inexperienced to extend onto it. Perhaps there's not enough interest in games like Endless Online in the modern day market. Maybe we didn't get the kind of users we wanted because anyone serious about building an MMORPG would be looking for something a little more versatile than EOSERV, with an open source game client to match and well documented APIs.

I'm not a developer. I'm not anything around here. I was staff management and moderation for a long time, but I don't have a whole lot to say, other than this place has clearly been headed in the wrong direction right from the very beginning, it's only that as time goes on, it issues become more prominent.

It certainly wasn't any one issue at fault either. It was the disputes between servers, the lack of a clear future roadmap for the project, the unwillingness of anyone else to contribute, the fact EOSERV was always playing second best to just about every private server solution out there (a result of the other issues combined), the fact we absorbed the remnants of the Endless Online community - which was shit to begin with, and finally the fact that as Desmond stated, we've provided the resources, but nobody is utilising them correctly.

The technology is good. The code is good. Sausage held up his part. It's everything else that needs work. Just don't expect it to happen in the near future, especially now that EOSERV is relatively low on the list of priorities of its few active contributors.

@SBlord you are completly right how EOSERV has gone in the completly wrong direction I mean what is eoserv?

It's an Endless Online Server Emulator but because he decided to only make it an Endless Online Server Emulator thats all it can be called.

Now if i owned this website this would be a Free well documented Server Engine.

Because, you can easily make a client to emulate this server software. But obviously because its from EO, and EO people come here to make an EO server. Thats all it will ever be.

Take a look at Eclipse, Mirage source, as examples they aren't just labeled as some shitty remade game. Because if you didn't know mirage source use to be its own game engine aswell which is simimliar to eoserv in a way.

They try to help people create games.

What does this place do exactly what desmond said, Copy other EO servers then fail with no one to play and have it die.

And ontop of that Sausage, who is making you suck his dick and gets money out of it (and not very much money) He could be getting more if he were smart and actually had a goal or purpose for this shit.

But he doesn't so like i said no matter what I say or you say nothing will change.

The only thing that matters is what Sausage will do and say (Not much cause hes busy)

Donating helps pay for the website.. And? what else? Does it help this community any better? no.

I gave 40 USD to Sausage every month did it improve eoserv? no. It didn't. All it did was get my ad displayed and hated on then eventually removed.

You can all say what you will about me, but, lets be honest if somone around here took responsibility for his creation then we wouldn't be like this.

There has been talk as of lately about turning EOSERV's next focus toward developing a complete toolkit, aiming to assist users in developing games from scratch. The entire idea of Endless Online private servers is an extremely limited one, as said the demographic for it is almost entirely Endless Online players, and it's been near impossible to expand the project beyond that.

I'm not even sure Endless Online is the kind of game suited to a private server. It's a high volume environment, each server is designed to operate with 80 players optimal, with provisions for hundreds more, up to the point where you have a society on a server. Break that down across many private servers, thinning the concentration on each down to about 10 per server, and it doesn't work.

However, I digress. Nobody ever seems to see the big picture or work together to resolve the problems we face, and so this is pretty much what i've come to expect from this forum. Everyone playing with EOSERV, for fun, then they dispute and it all turns to shit. Rinse and repeat.

Sidenote, somewhat curious how this thread went from the behaviour of the users to a general "why this place doesn't" work thread... maybe it all adds up and it's therefore relevant to the discussion, but it's not what I created the thread for. In any case, it's in the lounge forum now, so by all means take it in any direction you see fit. At least it's mostly on topic.

Anyway, that's my fun for one day. I was a bit hyped up on something when I made the thread, and now i'm coming down from it... hard. Best I be off for the night, but i'll check it again to see how it's progressed in the morning.
