Forum :: Lounge :: How do I Setup a Modem?

I finally got my computer fixed, but I can't access the internet. I am stupid with stuff so a bit of help please? I connect the modem to the computer, and everything in the modem lights up except PC/Activity. I have gone through the install things and it said it can't detect my modem. I am usingWindows XP Professional . And yes everything is setup correctly. I will take pictures later.

Do I have to install something ? Like NVIDIA? If so how would I do that with no internet? -.-.

Would there be something to install manually like Modem Installs?

let me guess, you reinstalled windows and forgot to install all ur drivers, no?

EDIT:you also need to restart the neccesary services too, go do that after you installed all of ur drivers

I am stupid at this stuff, i did re-install windows. How do I install drivers?

Not sure? I am guessing factory made.

you put the disk you got with ur pc (driver one) run it and install those drivers from it, after that update it.

to put the services on:

go start>run

type in services.msc and run it

if windows zero configuration service is turned off, put it on manually and it will fix

I didn't need a disk it opened anyways, but now a bunch of the names showed up. And there are Status's and some say Started some are Blank , There is also Startup Type, Log on As and Description of the program, what do i do with these things?

I made a driver installation tutorial a while ago. Be careful when following this though as downloading drivers from third party sites can be dangerous.
