Never, ever, ever use the same password on multiple EO servers (or anywhere, for that matter). You are trusting the admin of a server with your password wherever you use it.

There is also a danger in even logging in to untrusted servers, you will automatically be sending information which will allow the admin of that server to get you banned from other servers. Server admins which are worried about this can enable the IgnoreHDID option in revision 235+, although this will make it easier for players to evade bans.

I thought admins can't see your password on the database?

They can't by default but some people have been taking out the encryption and stealing peoples passwords by storing them as plain text in the database.

I won't name any servers that have done this in the past but this was posted when Sausage came across one that did.

They do store all players passwords though. Why I changed mine. I don't know for sure if they 'stole' anybodies though so I won't go against what you said.

Tell that to the servers explicitly bypassing EOSERV's password encryptions (or using other sneaky routines).
