Here's a quick example of what I am releasing as Open Source. it's hopefully going to be a clone of the Endless Online client.

Place the Endless Online graphics files into the gfx directory and run. There is a map I put together in the maps folder for testing.

Features:

  • Player
    • Standing
    • Walking
  • Map Rendering
    • Ground
    • Walls
    • Objects
  • Tile Specs
    • Wall
  • GUI
    • In game HUD (Needs work)
Known Bugs:
  • Walls appear too late causing you to see a broken building.
  • Male player needs offset updating when flipped.
  • Player can walk through walls if walked into from non standing position.
To compile you need to download Allegro 5. it should compile with any version of Allegro 5 but is set up to compile with Allegro 5.0.4.

Press F1 for Female
Press F2 for Male
Press Print Screen for a screen shot. (Stored in "screen")

Feels just like regular EO Client. good work.

But as of right now i noticed that you can go through anything and that sitting down

and attacking don't work.


It would be cool if you continue working on this and then host your Endless Online server.

Wow, really good job, would be nice to see wall features so you can't walk off the map completly, but im sure you're going to add those kind of features .

Sweet. Are you going to keep the same UI Style? That'd be sweet if instead of that, there were menu buttons that pulled it up. Kinda of like paperdoll.

Everything will be fixed.

I shall Add better map drawing so it only draws what is needed and then because Tile Specs are loaded I just need to keep track of the player coordinates and then the player will no longer be able to walk off the map.

I shall also add tile animations today.

So my list:

  • Fix the map rendering so it only draws what is needed.
  • Add a function to check the Tile Specs that have been loaded.
  • Store the player coordinates so that it don't walk off the map.
  • Add tile and wall animations. (If I get time I shall also add object animations)
On a side note. There is gender hot-keys programmed into the client.

F1 = Female
F2 = Male

it would be nice if you put the customizable hot-keys like Cas put in his client, having pots/weapons instantly accessible like that was really good

It will be an Open Source client so you can add those sort of things :) I'm just adding the normal client features.

I am also not going to add the online features either. This is just a client that can be modified by others. I don't want to do all the work.

I'll post when I get the SVN working again. This time I'll leave all settings well alone xD

I got a really big bug to fix but I shall try get it done in the morning as I am going to watch some TV for a change.

I got it to render big maps and added tile animation :)

I know, I have him on MSN.

I've updated the download file and I am going to update my first post with new features.

Edit: I have now updated my first post with an SVN link. You can now download the source code using subversion or TortoiseSVN.

Nice, i like the idea of map rendering only whats needed it, but you should make it just barly past the screen so we cant see it.
