Opinion : Making a FUN EOSERV to Play
I hate seeing people create servers that have absolutely no point in them of in joining or anything, if this is in the wrong forum please remove it or I will repost it somewhere else or if it has nothing to do with anything delete it.
Here is the link to get started: https://eoserv.net/forum/topic/1156
Once its created then you actually want to have some fun in it! Create a starter map for people to spawn/start in. Get a map editor here: https://eoserv.net/pub/files/tools/eomap-0.2.0-alpha7.zip or the latest one.
Once you have a good map for someone to start on make the spawn point for that map in config.ini. Make good rates, I suggest you make the rates 100% EXP rate and change the rates in rena's pub editor. Edit a monsters HP to about 8 and don't make them hit to high and make it give a good amount
ofEXPbut not overloads like 500 EXP for something with 8HP give it something like 30-50 EXP.
Make it drop something useful players will use that helps them, such as clothes, gold. But don't make it drop every kill or you will have 100 items all around the map. Second thing is, make a house that's close that they can see from when they start off so they know for a fact there's
somethingtodo. And make a simple little shop they can use to buy and items in like weapons, armors etc.
Now make sure that the StatPerLevel isn't at 3, in less you are wanting a hard server. If not don't make it to high. Make it something like 5-10. You can change this in your config.ini by doing CTRL + F and type StatP and it should show as 3 and change it to what you want.
Now for the second map. make it pretty simple but not to easy as the first map was. Make a NPC there with a good amount of health like 20-50. Make them drop something useful like the first monster did but a bit better. Don't make items that hit 100's-200's just yet, make that way later on
inthegame.
Players don't like wandering far far far away just to train and get items, at least make a monster/training place on every map. Only map shouldn't be training on is something like a town, which I will explain below:
Next thing is making a town, if you would like you could make another training map. Then after that make the town. Make a few houses in it so players can buy some items in it.
Also make good guides on your website or somewhere. And if you die and you spawn somewhere far away from the start point. So make the spawn point on the same map as the start map is.
If the NPC's attack to high make players start with 5-15 health potions.
No one wants to join a server with a retarded name... Why not make a real name thats not named after your self? Name something that suits you but doesn't sound stupid. Something that everyone else likes :)
This is your server, its your choice on creating what you like. I just hate seeing noobs creating server they are just doing it for items and admin! This is my way and it works good for me!
No one wants to play a server when it has 10 admins on it with 1 player, when you have your first server with no players then make the server good then start hiring later. Don't make the first player admin just because he was the first. Hire people that are actually talented.
Also don't over abuse your powers, for example making billions of gold and muting, jailing people for stupid/no reasons. Players don't like it when you use @Announcements, or warp people to you.
Its always good to show players around so they know what to do then they will be free to go off and adventure what you created!
Hope this helped ;)
Edit:
Player's like to keep busy. Possibly level requirements for maps. Also crafting is fun for the player's I realized. It keep's them busy pretty well. Quests! Keeps player's busy by doing one objective and doing another one afterwards, you can learn how to add your own quest system here, and learn how to make quests here. Quests are just really fun to do.
I'm not a big fan of this, but it seems other's are. They like clients, I guess people get bored of the same GUI of EO, that's why they started to make different GUI for main EO. Maybe a few custom items & music and players will love it!

Re: Guide : Making a FUN Server to Play
I don't plan on hosting anymore, and most my servers end up failing because I don't want to work on them anymore. Then they become a dead project to me. But sometimes when I actually work on the server I get 10-20 players daily. And maybe -10 during nights. I've had about 4 big servers
thatgotten around 30 players. But then they ended up going offline because again I didn't want to work on them.
I also create many test projects because I get bored, but at the moment I am working for a different server. So I am not planning any time soon on creating another EOSERV.

You should start anptjer project :o but continue it if you get 30, you could probably get a lot more if you continued then? Right?

Re: Opinion : Making a FUN Server to Play
Fixed just for you. It's now my opinion. Also, others may like Seose. But it's not that much of a great software if you want fun things. Because its sadly a dead project + closed source.
