Re: A good website maker?
Without any good knowledge, a notepad does not make a good website. It does however, seem to be the best showoff 'one liner' for people that are slow learners, and suddenly figure out how to learn.
IR BEAST< THIS CLUB GETS ME WIFE. Well done Divine. Welcome to 2011, where most people know this piece of useless information.
I would suggest using Dreamweaver, and taking some online tutorials. Basic things about HTML and CSS, etc. Get a good idea of how it works, then take a proper course, and learn it from the base up (100%). This however, will only help you to build templates. And take note thatonline
tutorials aren't official, and will be different on every site. They can however, get you started somewhere.
Good websites include heavily developed applications using javascript and php, etc. So get around those too if you wish to have a nice site. And when you're finally confident in your skills, come back and show us how much you can do with a notepad ;)
@Divine, I'd love to see an example of why your 'one word answer' was so worth it. Because honestly, I think that was just +1 to your post count.

Re: A good website maker?
a) .com will always cost money. No free routes around that one, sorry bud!
b) A good 'website maker' I've found is tumblr. That's if you want to post updates and such with ease without having to upload to an external host a new home page or something. It heavily focuses on the CSS side of things, so if you know CSS You're good. and if you don't, it's pretty damn easy to
learn. I picked up CSS in about a week? So yeah. Not long at all. And it really simplifies things with new HTML Tags for posts. I.e if you're making a text post, the way it renders it would be like this:
{block:text}
{Title}
{Body}
{/block:text}
Then when you get good with CSS you can add some formatting into it like this:
<div id=Text>
{Block:Text}
<div id=Title>
{Title}
</div>
<div id=body>
{Body}
</div>
{/Block:Text}
</div>
It's pretty simple. And you can use themes from the theme garden to begin with so you can see how other people have gone about it and apply it to your own theme if you so wish to do so. Any further questions, I'll be happy to answer :)

Heres a program: http://kompozer.net/
Kompozer is awesome...
And if you want a free host heres a decent starter one: http://www.000webhost.com/
Also if you search google for :WYSIWYG html editors you will find a few good programs for new and un-experienced users.

No! Don't use kompozer! It's a horrible HTML creation program, seriously dude, use W3 Schools to learn some basic HTML & CSS and use notepad or notepad++ xD! So much better than Kompozer!
Tip: Try not to use tables either, they're kinda restricting. Div tags ALL THE WAY <3
