quote="Sausage"]Here's the only thing you EO conspiricists need to read.
(aka Elefag and
WickedFrost)
Hey! I bet ya heard some things about EO coming back online.
"What? Impossible! It's been down a whole 2 months!"
"It can't possibly be Vult-r! Someone must be scamming me."
I'm here to explain to you, in simple language so people like WicketFrost can
understand, why noone is trying to scam you.
BULLSHIT 1: It isn't Vult-r posting those announcements!
I have seen the chat logs of Plasmastar sucking up Vult-r's ass with my own
eyes and I can vouch with pretty good confidence that it's him. Plasmastar did
not forge a 4 hour chat log just to convince the 1 person he sent it to (me).
If it's NOT Vult-r, by some off chance, then it's someone with access to his
IM accounts, original EO webserver, the EO server software and the EO domains;
as well as purchasing a VPS to run this imaginary "scam". For more info on why
this would make no sense, see BULLSHIT 4.
BULLSHIT 2: The domain expired and someone re-registered it!
I don't have EO's domain expiry info memorized, but I'm pretty sure that it's
simply set to the day/month that he transferred it to some domain cloaking
company in preperation for re-setting up EO.
Even if someone did hijack the domain, the actual address that
endless-online.com is pointing too hasn't changed. The website is still the
original EO website.
BULLSHIT 3: The new client contains trojans
This is exactly the same client that was hosted there for the last 3-4 years.
Most anti-viruses are utterly useless pieces of shit that will throw up
false positives all over the place (a known problem with EOIRC for a while).
BULLSHIT 4: They are running a fake server to phish my password!
See BULLSHIT 1 for info, but we assume whoever is able to set up this server
already has a complete copy of the EO database. This can be seen by the number
of reported characters in the database (and a correct sample of the first 100
characters in the database based on a small bit of knowledge only I had).
Now, as they have a full copy of the database, why would anyone need to run a
fake server to phish passwords? The answer is: They don't.
**** THE EO SERVER STORES YOUR PASSWORDS ****
That is a crucual point here. Anyone who is able to set this server up must
have a copy of the database already. If they already have the database then
they already have all of your passwords. There is no need to steal them again.
BULLSHIT 5: The EOHax people are behind this!
I have just as little clue to what's going on each step of the way as you do.
Plasmastar is the guy Vult-r is talking to, obviously oblivious to the fact
Plasmastar sucks cocks, and we can only extract facts from him.
Just because I happen to not be a half-wit who is actually able to deduce the
plain and simple truth I can't be bothered to finish this sentence.
"Wow, Sausage, I understand everything now! I was a complete idiot for throwing
a bunch of bullshit around with your name attatched to the end" -- W. K. Frost
ADDENDUM: WHY THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING
EO is a piece of shit. Vultard has no intentions of making it better. EO
coming online will detract attention from private servers which are, in the
case of EE, effectively attempts at creating .29 and beyond. The only way this
can become a good thing is if Vultard gives control to someone who is capable
of fixing and improving EO, instead of wasting money running a dead-end game.
Of course, being that Vult-r is stupid enough to think Plasmastar is a
trustworthy EO player, I can't be bothered to finish this sentence.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to someone rant about a matter you
didn't give a shit about in the first place, and especially the people who
scrolled to the bottom for the tl;dr. You are the true heroes.
I hate you all.
:kingluke:
I am so. Fucking. Trolled.
If you wish to dispute things such as the EO database storing your passwords effectively in plaintext then I'll be glad to help convince you.[/quote]
