copyright notice
How would I write a copyright notice so others are aware they cannot use my gfxs for their own use. Also, should I post my work on my website so it has the dates I made them so no one can claim them as their own?

I doubt it would stop people from using your art

Write a 'disclaimer' or 'license' and include it with your graphics and release it separately, perhaps with a game updater.

Why does it matter if people use your art. Who are you, ele?

Re: copyright notice
Ele didn't use his own art.
I'm pretty sure if somebody makes their own artwork for themselves and players use, they have full right to keep it for themselves.
Be sure to keep a copy of each original unedited graphic you design, and when you add/edit it, keep an original. In the case that you find someone has stolen it, getting these will make a damn good fuss in court. No need to show people dates, they are usually stored digitally within the images
properties. Ignore people that try to talk you out of your ways, or try to tap you into letting them take it. Give when you feel it is well deserving or if you wish to share, but never against your own will.
Writing your own licenses will also prove that you have warned and claimed your art as reserved material, this is more ammo for you in court.
Play the ball game man, no need to take "the good path" or whatever leeches will try to throw at you. Truth is, the second you get popular, you're going to be attacked, and if you refuse to hand over your artwork, you're going to be attacked. So, just take the advantage and sue any mofo's that
are stupid enough to steal 2D art.

Re: copyright notice
Thanks Klutz that helps alot. I was hoping someone would actually post something helpful. :)
Taffy- Referring me to being like Ele is a quite an insult. Going by what you said you seem like you like to use others work, and that being the reason for your dumb comment. I'm nothing like that fag so shut your mouth and next time consider posting something helpful, instead of being a
douche. So what if I don't want others to use my work. I worked long and hard on what I've made so if I don't want a bunch of people that are too lazy too make their own art to use them, then that is my decision, not yours. Also, how would that make me like Ele, I'm pretty sure you don't know why
peopledon't like Ele. If anything your more like Ele because of your arrogance, and idiocy.

Calling someone "Ele" here is like calling someone a racial slur.
Stupid.

Anyway, as for the art on FE, we have a few pieces of open-source art that flies around everywhere, such as people who donate their art to, or what was, the EOServ community. But the majority of what we have was created by our members and artists.
But that's all I really have to say. :s

Do not turn this into a ___ thread'. You know what I'm talking about.
Lets hope this thread remains intact so that if the case arises that someone needs this info again, they can read it properly and not take it for granted.

I guess you didn't consider the fact that I don't care to take the time to spell his name, and what of it? You post in every topic with Elevations name(your welcome for saying full name) and defend him even when he shouldn't be defended. If you like *praising* him so much do it on his own
site, andserver. The really funny part to your comment is that you think saying Ele is even remotely the same as a racial slur. "Ele" is short form for a name not anything like a racial slur. Before you comment anywhere, maybe you should make sure what your saying makes sense. You are clearly
theonewho looks stupid here, not me.
Klutz already told me what I need to know so you don't need your off topicness/ Ele loving comments.
Edit: yes sorry Klutz I get what your saying. I didn't see your comment.

I wasn't imposing an argument. I just find it retarded.
Overall, what I'm saying is just let it die.
In the end, Klutz is right when it comes to getting your art licensed.

Re: copyright notice
I don't think anyone should complain about their art being used, unless their server uses a client with completely custom graphics. Even then, EO is still not your game. And since I know for a fact that nobody has made a complete set of graphics for EO from scratch that is all their
own work, nobody has a right to complain about their artwork being stolen.
If you make something awesome, and somebody likes it/uses it in their own server, I'd take that as a compliment. It's a lot easier in the end. Think about it this way - is it worth taking legal action over a dead 2D mmorpg? Didn't think so.

Well, this was the reason I said it would be better if custom graphics were released separately. Think of it like adding a flame graphic to your car, whilst the car isn't your design at all, you designed that flame graphic and have equal rights for it as the manufacture has for the design of the
car. You could even sell the graphic. Simply put, if it's not accompanied by anything except your own work, then well.. it's yours? What is done with it is up to the end-users, which is where the disclaimer comes into play.
If you create a cascading stylesheet for a particular website and give it to the users to apply to their browsers, that's perfectly legit, which is why most browsers now have this feature. The only thing that stands in place is the agreement you make when you download the EO client, which states
you may not modify the game. Which is good for what? :/
People just don't know how to legit. Sorry Ethan, but I disagree with you this time.

Me and Hiuru released a pack of 100% custom tiles/walls/monsters a while ago, and have the rest of a GFX folder finished, so you can't really say its never been done.
