Forum :: Lounge :: How do you set up a VPS to run with eoserv?

Im thinking about buying a VPS host since its the cheaper option for me and all and ive heard seen that it would be a decent option for EO and i was just wondering when i order it how would i go about setting it up? (if anyone knows from experience how they did it (im aware that it can vary from providers and such) oh and if anyones to ask what provider im thinking about going to with, its Mochahost.  If theres a better one or something i would love to hear about it (Or cheaper one) but yeah. Thanks anyone that decides / wants to help.

If you can't figure out how to set up EOSERV you probably shouldn't waste your money on an unmanaged VPS.

Edit: Oh, for the hell of it: svn export svn://eoserv.net/eoserv/trunk/; ./configure linux; follow the instructions.

Setting up eoserv is easy as cake. Its just i haven't used a VPS host before so i don't really know how it works.

I use xygen hosting, they have reasonable rates, and instant online help in setting up. they will give you file zilla and other stuff you need to get started.

Holy shit dude their prices are expensive, you should use Cloud-next, THEY got reasonable prices. (Craig suggested me :D)

Xygen 14.99$ = 126mb ram
Cloud-Next (9.99£) 16.00$ = 512mb

nah, ive heard + saw a free vps before there around.  But un-likely to find one.

Put it this way the less you spend = the less you get, there are cheaper options but look foreward to lotsa downtime, random crashing, and no online assistance, the base price for alot of hosts is low, adding more RAM will cost you more but is not necessary for servers with few people.
