Forum :: Lounge :: Why can't there be Sticky Posts?

It would be so much easier for people to find helpful/ important posts if moderators Stickied them. It would reduce spam, pointless topics, and -1/-2's. People don't even use the forum search as much as they should to find a topic. 

I vote for Sticky Posts. I think it would be a great beneficiary for the forum.

Why aren't there? Sausage hasn't put them in.

I think they're on the forum, just not being used.

It's stupid. "Lets -1/-2 people when we could just sticky a topic, and lock it" (depending on what it was for). It'd probably help the community better.

Anyways, collect names and send a propose to sausage's email, I am sure that he atleast reads it :D

@Newguy, this was just a suggestion. I do not have anything against anyone in here. Ask questions, be my guest, I am not here to stop you. Just throwing crazy ideas :D

Not entirely sure where phpBB2 comes into it. Both EOHax and EOServ are powered by FORUM (literally, that's the name). I'm not sure which version.

Since this place is a support forum, dropping out the people who "can't even do basic computer stuff" would be a decent step backwards. Besides, for what it's worth, I don't know how to set up EOSERV either. I've never actually tried, but still...

This is a valid request though. The FAQ and Docs links lead to nothing of any real use, being mostly 404s and pages which have been "coming soon" for years now. The option for stickied topics is definitely there, although i'm not sure if actually works. If it does then it may be worth someconsideration.

I asked about the docs etc quite a while back, he told me that he no longer supports EOServ and that's why he won't update the content. Although he also said after making the 1st eomap that he wouldn't bother making a second, and as you can see he obviously did.

What I'm saying is that, there's no point in asking him, because of the fact that you ask, he will just lie so you'll stop bugging him. That or he doesn't know himself if he can be bothered.

I was also told once that there weren't going to be stickies because i)no stickies = more posts and ii)it gives other people a chance to make guides in their own style. I mean, there's no perfect guide so, maybe if someone actually made a sufficient guide one day he may update the FAQ and Docs. Or not.

There's no stickies because forums are for transient discussions, not posting guides or other permanent content. If you create something worth adding to the documentation section of the website it can be added there.

Edit: I have just decided that I will be adding a wiki.
