I'd have to say dogs, never have such an awesome pet compared to them.  Have had a ton of pets in my lifetime (rats, mice, dogs, cats, ferret, etc etc) but nothing has come close to having a little puppy.

Had an australian cattle dog awhile back but I had to give it up when I moved, best dog ever. :[
