| ![]() I didn't care much about those warnings, but yes, on 2009 spring/summer some people just used server to get usernames and passwords... --- Eoserv classes: Forum ghost, test player, ex-server owner, TOP 50, mapper & an oldbie

| ![]() I remember i found out about private servers on the Endless Online forums, there was a link to eoserv i think, or some hack website. --- A.K.A Zpandaz,or Deuce

| ![]() i agree with plasmastar. Only the idiots who were stupid enough to use the same details on private servers as they did on main/test were the ones who should have feared private servers. And anyone with any sense would have been able to tell which ones were fake and which were legitimate. "JOIN MAI SERVER! IT GIVES YOU FREE STUFFZ ON MAIN!!" its kind of a giveaway. (excuse the pun)

| ![]() I had tried using it to hack passwords at one point. I had one guy all ready to do it and gave him my ip and it didn't work. I didn't know about portforwarding then :P --- http://www.addipop.com

| ![]() The Endless Online team at the time were notorious for making posts and community announcements that, although in the best interests of the community, were very quick to make third party projects all look malicious. This was coupled with the fact that the user base was quick to speculate, point the finger and share information and rumours they heard from a distant friend with no actual verification. The name "Sausage" alone had the same stigma attached much for the same reason. A perfect example of this was a post that Vult-r made on March 29th, 2009 titled "PRIVATE SERVER - BIG WARNING". Take a read of that and you'll very quickly see what I mean. --- EOSERV.net Academy Of Trolls, Satirists & Sarcastics 5.5 Years Former Site Administrator / Moderation Team / Member (Retired)

| ![]() There were a lot of people tooling passwords to not be encrypted back in the early days. At one point there were a lot of EO players that really didn't care for the private server scene because there were so many functions missing from regular EO game play. At the time Vult-r made that post,
there was only basic movement, database usage, and item equip. I am not sure if map warping even worked back then. It wasn't even until early May 2009 that I made the first public release of a PK battle system that allowed a very generic exp gain and levelup (long before even NPC's were added to
EOSERV). Back in those days there was very little that could drive traffic to the private server community. I should add that as of this month it has been 2 years since Sausage managed to actually connect the official client to EOSERV. So I suppose you could say this month is an anniversary of
sorts. Happy 2nd EOSERV :P |
