Only a few days ago we saw Scott's departure from the EOSERV team. He is at least the sixth key person to leave the community since 2007, and it doesn't appear as though this situation is likely to improve now. Many names have been and gone over the past three years, starting with Skazombie (oneof the earliest EOHax administrators) as the earliest member to leave us, and finishing most recently with Sordie and Scott.

It's hard to concede defeat, but short of a miracle, i'm no longer one hundred percent convinced that this place has a future. Hell, even the official IRC channel is mostly dead, if not in discussion, then in activity. There's no future roadmap or consistent development anymore. That's hard to say, especially from someone like myself who cut my teeth online in 2006 along with a team consisting of Sausage, Addy, Wolfdog and Plasmastar among others, and I still thank them for that, it's one hell of a team and we had more than our fair share of good times.

I didn't think it would come down to this, back when EOHax was popular one could be forgiven for thinking it would never end. We had at least 4000 registered users, 200 active per day and continuously growing. I think we should have seen back then that our plans for the future weren't sustainable and we would eventually close up when Endless Online finally went under. EOSERV was made in response to this scenario, but it still has yet to carry us far enough. It's rapidly becoming apparent that it's a case of too little, too late.

So I would be more than glad to see some of you new guys pick up and carry the torch with this. I don't think there's much future for the oldies here now, but having seen some of the work contributed by more recent additions like Apollo, and some of our long standing members that have withstood the test of time, like Rena, I still hold a little hope that I may be able to join an IRC channel a year or two from now and know that the good times can roll on once again thanks to the work that you guys are doing.

Until then, for people like myself, it's time to look towards the future I suppose, think about what's next and try to accept it. Who knows, perhaps I still have a future here, working for one of the new and upcoming developers, or elsewhere in bigger and better things. I do still think I have quite a few things to offer. This isn't my notice of resignation like Scott, since I have nothing to resign from now, but it was just something that seemed worth posting.
