Theme Design [Solved] -by Nerrevar & Syran

Post #52702 Theme Design [Solved] -by Nerrevar & Syran

I am working on my own Re-Design of windows, Basically it shall be like a clean version of "Windows XP Black Edition", I'm calling it <Darkmatter OS> (even though it is simply

Windows XP with a few tweaks and some homebrew applications that work in the background)

My question is this: Does anyone happen to know an application that can assist me in the design of a theme file? I have a Visual Style, Icons, Explorer.exe Visual Mods, Sound Files, etc.

all the inner workings of a theme.

I wish to make a .theme file for it so that it applies the wallpaper, icons, .msstyle, etc. , and I can't seem to do so.

The reason is that making a theme file in notepad.exe requires knowledge of the Icon registry keys and values (that are very long combinations of letters and digits)

I have all the files that a theme would have because I have "Darkmatter:Subspace", it is a theme that is applied by its own custom executable made by SkinFactory. It also generates a theme file but it does not apply all the needed icons or sound scheme directories.

Does anyone know of a .theme file UI, or at least something better than Reshack.exe to modify SHELL32.dll?

Any Ideas scott? I aimed this at you because as far as I know, you are fairly savvy with the finding of these things :)

Look at Royale Noir. It sounds like what you want. I'd suggest you use one of those third party theme programs. Windows only accepts themes that are signed by Microsoft. Royale noir is one.

No, I have Royale Noir. I Also have a theme package but no .theme file for my desired theme.

I am trying to apply all the functionality of Darkmatter:Subspace. Goto the website and check it out. But I don't want it to be initialized by a Program (which Darkmatter:Subspace is), I want to slipstream it as a default and un-modifiable .theme file within the OS revision Im designing.

It has all the resources but the .theme file is lacking in the details other than wallpaper and visual styles.

Any other Ideas?

I hope you know it's illegal to distribute modified copies of Microsoft Windows.

I am not asking someone else to Distribute a Copy for me. I am asking in assistance to the creation of a .Theme file, This is not illegal.

To ensure that the information regards this to being legal, Microsoft DOES allow people with a licensed copy of Windows XP to make a modified Boot Disc for themselves.

Say that I AM a licensed user, and have a legit copy of Windows XP with no intention of distribution; Simply ease of installation for future formats.

I format my drive every month or so and back my data up to separate partitions to keep my Windows running fast and to clean left over bits n pieces of unused and uninstalled software.

I back-up all the installers I download so that I needn't download them again.

For reference my copy is legal with no intentions of alternative release.

And I'd be much obliged if people stay on topic with this.

I do apologize if I seem disrespectful in this explanation, I simply desire to have my question answered as to the regards of a program that with assist in the creation of a .theme File or a Program better than reshack.exe to modify SHELL32.dll

Check out http://virtualcustoms.net/

you should be able to find whatever you need to mod theme files and create your own themes and such there.

(also apologies if this is counted as advertising or is against the rules. if so, please remove the link)

You might try crystalxp.net, they have many tools and premade themes for Windows XP/Vista/7 available. A link to their tools page is: http://www.crystalxp.net/galerie/en.cat.9.html.
