Secure Encryption for GFX Without Lag
Hey, me and another guy are starting up a server and we are planning on putting it up within the week of Vodka's full release.
I was just wondering though if anyone has a secure encryption for GFX files, since we are using a custom sprite/gui/tiles/objects/walls/everything. It would be pretty shitty to see our hard work stolen within the first release since we've been putting quite a bit of work into it. Also looking for a
lag-free encryption that won't effect the games latency like in FE.
Thanks,
Matt

There is no "encryption". It's called compression and turns the client into a ram whore. It's also not completely effective. There are decompressors for most compressors and anyone can write one.

anyways FE's gfx security freezez my computer and makes my antivirus fuck up cause it detects trojans when the gfx files get written when u start the game
what there doing increases bandwidth and just plainly makes starting the game a royal pain in the ass

I don't belive that making compressed graphic would have ANY impact of the bandwidth between server and client =\

It doesn't cause lag, it causes unnecessary memory usage, which creates artificial lag, but does not delay the sending and receiving of packets. It merely causes a second or so delay in map rendering.

you are correct graphics encryption or in the case of FE compressed graphics files would not increase bandwidth used by the client however something installed by the client installer in the background might cause this.perhaps checking your Hard Drive for a program installed which you cannot account
for that was installed the same day as your FE/private server client could verify what I'm saying here.it could aslo be a case of how the FE client uses the graphics.i could be wrong.but i do have some knowledge of how it works.grant it you cannot change how the client it self reads graphics but
with some rather clever background programs running at the same time it can appear that the graphic files are not even there.however its also a case of worrying about what those "clever background programs" do other then handle graphic files.

Tbh they say these 'clever background programs' as said are used to help client gfx protection, except 1) the graphics isn't worth stealing and 2) the protection is unreliable and lags. It's completely pointless.

Re: Secure Encryption for GFX Without Lag
it increases bandwidth when every time the game starts and the gfx download to the client and somtimes it causes the client to corrupt
i know cause i run into about 25-30 problems every time i start FE

Well obviously they have some sort of launcher or a different client cause that is not a behaviour of the regular client
