I was looking forward to testing some of the extra features in here, but sadly eomap3 uses 98% CPU and pretty much freezes my computer, I can see everything fine just it takes around 3 minutes to identify clicking something lol.

This isn't really eomap3, it's eomap2 with some additions. Nothing major from what I can see.

edit: I read some above posts, btw I'm not lacking efficient memory and neither is the other guy. Original map editors run fine. Other than adding a couple of features you seem to have made a rather nasty mess.

clearly there is something up with your computers cause my laptop runs it fine as Exile stated, though i do have the porblem of it taking a little bit to load(5 seconds tops), which really isn't much of a problem.

Edit: also, while trying to run eomap2 my computer freezes and closes it so eomap3 is a jump in the right direction :\

Post #50060 Re: Eo Map Editor 3.0

One thing that might help is noting whether release 1 or 2 work or not, because based on that i could target a addition done between the releases. Lets shoot for a better more stable map editor ;P.

I would like if you could say what you added in the next version, because I just see Release 2! and Release 3! but i dont know what you added

PS: I love the right click! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

@Klutz Idk if its just you, but I have a pretty old laptop and it works fine for me :\

I would go back and work on that a bit DeathX. It seems that it's taking 225K memory in task manager when eomap2 only takes 50k tops. (average 35k for me) If you want it to work for more people and be more stable, let's start with not having it eat the shit out of memory.

Run Eomap2 click every tab and let them load then check it ;). It gets up to 225k as well ;)

Yea EOMAP does take up alot of memory. I'll edit this post soon

I quote Sausage here

"

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but I think you'll like this.

EOMap2 can currently only edit floor tiles, though I will update this as soon as it can edit other layers, this is just a preview release to see if there's any major problems.

EO Map Editor 0.2.0 (alpha 7) (279KB)

Instructions: Place it in a directory with a copy of the EO graphics in a sub-directory called gfx.

Requirements: Windows XP or higher, reasonably fast OpenGL compatable graphics card.

Please post about any problems you have (eg. no graphics, invalid map files, crashes) along with your specs (OS and graphics card mainly)."

I know I didn't need to post the whole thing, but it makes more sense to.

215 - 217k tops when i load through all the tabs, and my computer is very low spec

seems fine for me :), except the fact i can't use custom GFX files due to tile error =[

anyways, good updates.

I only got up to 188k, anyways that's still bad. eomap2 isn't the best, and when I was working on my map editor; Sausage had encouraged a bitmap cacher. That's what I would suggest to you, quite easy and it should keep under 50k

First of all i posted my problem here, cause here is the right place if i got problems using eomap 3. I am not any offence with exile. I beleive exile like many others here doing great work to make things working right. So when i am saying is not working for me it doesn't means exile made a bad software. I just need his knowledge and yours knowledge what might going wrong with me and eomap3 not working right. I just posted my problem to see if there are more like me having that problem or my pc might not working well.

Here is what i figured when i tried use it. It takes more to load the gfx files than eomap2. and use more cpu. Eomap2 is more steady. I did what exile suggested and opened all tabs. each time i try to scroll down with mouse to see the rest tiles the cpu usage go to 100%. And as u see on screen some tiles not loading at all. I use windows Xp. athlon 4,5 GHz and 2GB ram.

Here is my screenshot by using both. If someone got about same pc like mine can compare results.

Thank you all and especially Exile and rest who spent their time to let us all make our own server reality.

First off id like to say thanks! Also that is very odd I've never had the tiles not show like that. Could it be possible there's something wrong with the gfx files? Just trying to generate some ideas; possibly its a issue with not having the correct dll's it uses? I've decided to zip up most of the dll's it uses other then common windows system dll's.

Eomap Resources
  • allegro_font-static-4.9.15 (Included)
  • allegro_primitives-static-4.9.15 (Included)
  • allegro_image-static-4.9.15-bmp (Included)
  • allegro-static-4.9.15 (Included)
  • dinput8 (Included)
  • opengl32 (Included)
  • winmm (Not Included)
  • kernel32 (Not Included)
  • user32 (Not Included)
  • gdi32 (Not Included)
  • comdlg32 (Not Included)
  • ole32 (Not Included)
  • dxguid (Not Included)
  • psapi (Included)
  • d3d9 (Included)

The ones not included should be on your windows pc by default and maybe even some of the ones included are as well. You just place these with the eomap exe or in your system32 folder and your sure to have all the dll's eomap needs then :).

I wanted to take screen shots too but thought nah fuck it 'my compuertars wrong'. My computer has higher specs than yours and I have similar logs in my process manager. I'll just stick to eomap2, which has like hmm maybe 4-5 less features but somehow runs perfectly, not even the slightest bit of lag or lack of response or freezing.

Well, lets see... my comp specs;

Windows XP - Service pack 2

1GB ram

128MB Graphics card

1.8GHz sempron proccessor

and Deathx's version of EoMap 3 doesn't lag for me whatsoever including when im on msn/firefox and the rest, so im thinking perhaps for some people its just system issues, if it lags and freezes?.
