Post #18176 Tutorial for Rena's map edit..

OMGYAY A TUT :]

Ok
well yeah
anyway

TO TEH TUT

  • First, you're gonna need Rena's map edit. Desmond has a link in his signature.. I forgot the link, sorreh.
  • Step two - Open it, ffs.
  • Step three - Open up your map folder. [In your SEOSE or EOSERV folder. Then click maps.]
  • Step four - Click a map you want to edit. 0005 is Aeven, so click that.
  • Step five - Back to MapEdit. It should say "Aeven" and under that it should say Revision "blahblah".
  • Step Six - Click the drop-down menu, then "Ground Tile Editor."
  • Step Seven - Click run, then say "OMFGOMFG HALP IDK WUT ALL DESE NUMBRZ R".
  • Step Eight - Don't pee yourself :]
  • Step Nine - Look for everything that has "Tile 295".
  • Step Ten - Replace ALL tile 295's with Tile 233.
  • Step Eleven - Click FILE then click SAVE..
  • Step 12 - Close that editor box, then go back to the main Map Editor box.
  • Step Thirtheen - On the main map editor window, click FILE then click SAVE.
  • Step Fourteen - Turn off your server [if it is running] then click Save. <_<
  • Step fifteen - Turn your server back on.
  • Step sixteen - Log on to your admin character, then type +goto 5.
  • Step seventeen - Go do a little jig in celebration, you just turned Aeven into something that looks like Ancient City.
So yeah
Enjoy making your new maps or w.e.
I made this tut in like 5 mins XD

Nice tutorial, No offence to you or anything, but there are already like 4 xD,

Anyway, Map Editing will be much easier when Desmond Finishes EME, As its a visual editor, with a click tile -> click tile you want to replace anti-idiot system of editing

But if people are to Lazy to use the "search" feature, this'll help, as its on the first page ;P, I'd +1 you, but im not a Mod

Make another map of the inside. Make warp tiles to link them together

Okay, i'll give you the truth about EME. If you don't already know, it's done in VB.NET and that isn't the best language out there.

I messed around with it, and wanted to finish it for Desmond since he wasn't the greatest at bytes. Well loading is just fine, I got it working perfectly. But then saving is like roulette. It'd work 10% of the time.

It most likely won't get to work correctly. I will still work on it just to see if I can get it to work, but i'm gonna do it in C++, since it is more wide and more variety and you dont have the stupid limits VB has.
