Warping in Main & EOSERV

Post #197193 Warping in Main & EOSERV

Does anyone know why the main server sends warp requests to players instead of just warping them? Why give players a chance to avoid warps? Wouldn't it be alot easier to just move the character like EOSERV does?

Is it better this way, and should it be used for more things!?

Example:

>Player walks onto warp

>Server sends warp request

>Player accepts warp request

>Server Warps player.

Where as EOSRV just warps the player.

I'm confused as to what you're referring too. On Endless Online Main, it doesn't send them a request. I was never informed about it at least.

Yeah you were ahaha, nearly every questbot is using it to their advantage^^

I'll edit the OP to explain what I mean though.

Anti warp wasn't intentional, just yeah if you're receiving packets for a warp request why not block them?

lmao, Vult made it that way for a reason. I want to know if it was for anything other than helping with lagg.

As far as I see it, there are two options:

a) Server sees player on warp tile, tells client that warp should be done

b) Client sees player on warp tile, tells server that it's about to warp

With the latter, in the case that the client gets out of sync (ie wrong x/y coords), there would be warp requests sent to the server that would be ignored because the client isn't the master for player info - the server is. The client just displays what the server tells it to.

This requires that the server send a warp request to the client first before any warping can be done.

Yet the client was programmed to always accept warp requests no matter what right?
