Hi, new kid here asking for some advice.  I have seen many times before were a private server that made a custom client also had there own music.  This got me thinking about what music I wanted for my client.  But i don't have the format .midi for any off my songs(.midi being the format for the in-game music.) Is it possible to change the type of music the client reads or do i have to find a way to convert my MP3 or Wave files to .midi?

Please Help

From what i know you have to use MIDI format and i dont know how you would change your songs into that format, but if you are looking for some already made MIDI songs to add, you can google search it and you should run into a couple sites with them.

Thats what i did, if you need more help i might be able to find you a site but as for a converter i dont know of any. I could use some help on that one to, tbh.

If you want change Ex. Intro Music its Sfx001 in the "SFX" folder :)
Just find nice music, cut it , convert it to .wav and enjoy

I believe MIDI is used because it has a very small and that is due to the computer already having the sounds on by default. So an MIDI is like a music sheet for the computer to read and reproduce. Transfering an MP3 or WAV file into MIDI could reduce quality and have loss of certain sounds because the computer does not have the sounds stored or does not recognise what the file is telling it. This is why you should avoid changing the file type, although i dont know of any programs that can change anything into MIDI. There are sites that give free downloadds of MIDI files though, check out Google for more info.

It WILL reduce sound quality by like 5000%.

.MIDI, are trash DO NOT convert a .wav(.mp3) to a .midi, You might not like it, Scott is correct it'll make it sound horrible.

All that happens when it converts, is removes the singing, most insterments, most converters ask what insterment is played and you have like 3 to choose from..

Google is your friend use him/her and you'll be served.
