Neither EOSERV nor Seose "require" there to be any admin. Technically you could run a server without any. EO main does it year round :P

Okay, so I had this problem, and I'm sick of it, finally got it working, and now I just want to stop everyone's fanatic worries about the character creation process. So I'll make a SEOSE server guide, of which there are many I know.

Right so let's get started, this part will be bulleted, as almost everyone knows how to do this.

  • Go to http://sordie.co.uk
  • Go to SEOSE Downloads
  • Download: seose-bin.0.2.7b.zip
Once the download completes (shouldn't take long for sordie's amazing upload speeds =P) you must extract the zip file to a folder. Typically a lot of people will initially use the desktop, so let's stick with this tradition. Create a folder on the desktop called "SEOSE". Extract all thecontents of the SEOSE zip file you just downloaded into that folder.

You should have 5 items in that folder:
  1. Folder named: Data
  2. Folder named: Users
  3. File named: Seose.exe
  4. File named: Seose.txt
  5. File named: Seose.xini

[edit by Sordie]
Read the Seose.txt file carefully[/edit]

Under here, all the server info is input. The name, website url, host IP and port. Change only the host and port number, or just the IP if you want to be careful. The host should read:
Host = "localhost"
Port = 8078 (Remember only if you want to change it)

(Yes I've taken the comments out xD.)

Now you start the server by double-clicking on Seose.exe AFTER you save the .xini file.

You should end up getting the server finish with SLN: 200 Update OK Server status updated successfully.

If not, please re run through that part and follow very tightly to the guidelines. Also check that your firewall isn't blocking port 8078, as even with "Port = 0" it will still use that port, unless you specify another one. Also, your anti-virus may be blocking Seose.exe.

Next part, adding the extra files for creation:

And so here we are, the glorious realm of account and character creation.

This is the part that so many people are stuck on, so this is the help you need, and can get. Unfortunately, I don't think "stickying" can be done, otherwise I'm sure this post I'm making would be undoubtedly fully unnecessary.

Anyway, close down Seose.exe, you don't want to run the risk of corruption in any way, shape or form. Once it is closed, open the folder SEOSE, that we created on the desktop, also, open your Endless Online folder. If you do not have Endless Online (the client) then shame on you, you arecreating a server and have no software to test it. =P

Once you have the two folders open, copy maps and data from "Endless Online" to "SEOSE". Wait for the copy to finish, then go back to "Endless Online" and go INTO the pub folder. There should be 4 files there, copy all four of them to the "Data" folder in "SEOSE". DO NOT COPY THEM TO "SEOSE",IT SHOULD BE "SEOSE > DATA".

You can now go ahead and create an account, to do this, run Seose.exe, this is the main thing, if this isn't running your server isn't running. Now go to into "Endless Online" and open the file: "econfig.exe", where it says "game.endlessonline.com" you should make it read: "localhost".

Now, with Seose.exe still running (of course), open "endless.exe". You should end up on the main screen we've seen so many times. Create an account, and then try to create a character, they should BOTH work for you.

I really hope this helps a lot of people and also slows the traffic down on the character creation threads, I know sordie was raving over this.

Thank you for reading :)
