Heres my first sword that i've made in a long time, Tips? comments?

PS: I have troubles making my weapons the right size.. (Explains my failure) Any tips?

The big sword is in bad quality because i shrunk it.

Uhm to C&C,

Lineart

The shape is sorta cut on the metal part of the blade as you check your reference, it's flawless and smooth shaped metal blade. On the hilt sorta fine but maybe you can fix it a bit to make it better. On the handle, sorta fine but maybe you can make the shape a bit well, sorta thin though. xDThe angles are fine because it's not isometric though but a normal figure. 

Shades & Colors

The colors were too dull, saturated and not contrasted well, maybe you can borrow or refer to an artist for the better colors or find a pixeling tutorial which shows how to pick better contrasted colors. D: Put light source on the metal part of the blade to define the sharpness and the glossiness of the blade. Also prevent pillow shading!, I found on the blade that it's nearly and partly to be pillow shaded though it's not good that a sharp and glossy blade will be pillow,you should also think the reality of something that you're making like the blade is shiny and sharp, you should pixel it as shiny and sharp also. 

I made a revision of your blade using the reference hope it explains well and lets you understand it more.

Practice more with the shadings, colors, line arts and spend more time on your artwork. Keep pixeling and practicing to make it better. You can do it. =]

I just dont get how you come up with all the right colors for the shades lol

Ok, Blue, Heres what i made, i am really proud of my work haha i know i could probably do even better but whatever..
I had to make some kind of Air staff or air weapon for a server but i never posted it,

Here is the Reference pic:

Heres my first work -> improved:

The reason the bad one is small is because i didnt know how to size them at first but everything in the improved version is from using your tips and my knowledge.
I know this staff looks alot like Queen's 2 staffs because i used similar colors for the wood but i made it from scratch.

P.S. I had alot of trouble trying to make the top end of the swirl.. I couldnt form it the right way :P

You improved a lot!

But maybe you can shape the spiral a bit sexier though because it's sorta edgy.
